How to Know Your Instagram Views, and What You Cannot Know
Instagram tells you who viewed your story by name, and tells you nothing more than a total for everything else. Open your own story and swipe up from the bottom, or tap the viewer count in the corner, and you get the full list of accounts that watched; do the same on a reel or a post and you get numbers only. That single split explains almost every question people have about knowing their views: you can know exactly who saw a story, and you can never know who saw a reel, a photo or your profile. This page sets out what each number genuinely tells you, how long each one lasts, what Instagram does and does not notify people about, and where the myths come from. It also explains what story views mean once you start buying them, because bought views land in the same viewer list as real ones and it is only fair to say so.

The one place Instagram gives you names
Stories are the only part of Instagram that names your viewers. Open a story you posted, swipe up from the bottom of the screen or tap the small viewer count in the bottom left corner, and the list appears with the total at the top and the most recent watcher first.
That list has a deadline of roughly 48 hours from the moment you posted, which is longer than the 24 hours the story is visible to everybody else. After that the names disappear and only aggregate numbers survive in your insights. Screenshotting the list while it is live is the only way to keep it.
The order of names is not a ranking. Instagram has never documented the order as meaning anything, and it changes as more people watch, so treating the top of the list as your most devoted followers is a myth rather than a feature.
Start with one day of stories
250 is the floor for story views, ordered against your profile with an @username or a story link. No sign-up and no password.
What you can never know on Instagram
There are four things Instagram deliberately does not tell you, and no legitimate app or website can supply them. Knowing this list saves money, because most of the apps sold on these promises are collecting logins rather than data.
Anything advertising these features is either guessing or after your account. An app cannot see data Instagram does not publish, and one that asks for your password to try is asking for far more than the job could ever require.
- Who viewed your profile. Instagram shows no visitor list for profiles, to anybody, on any account type.
- Who watched your reel. Reels give a play count and full insights, but never names.
- Who viewed a feed photo or carousel. Post insights show totals and a follower split, not accounts.
- Who screenshotted your story. Instagram does not notify for story screenshots.
- Which specific accounts unfollowed you. Instagram gives no unfollower list, and third-party trackers work by comparing snapshots they took themselves.
For a story that needs to look watched
A thousand views changes what somebody sees when they open the story. Delivered within 0 to 24 hours.
How to know if a specific person saw your story
Open the story, swipe up to the viewer list, and use the search field at the top to type their username. If the account appears, they watched it. This is the only reliable way to know whether one particular person saw something you posted.
Two conditions can hide someone who did watch. If they have blocked you, they will not appear at all. If you posted the story to a Close Friends list or hid it from certain accounts, the list only covers people who could see it in the first place.
There is no equivalent for anything else. If you want to know that a specific person saw a piece of content, it has to be a story, because a reel or a post will only ever tell you how many people watched.
For an announcement you are pushing
Five thousand views suits a launch, a sale or anything you are actually promoting. Same 30-day refill as every order here.
Does Instagram tell people when you screenshot?
Instagram does not notify anyone when you screenshot their story, their feed post, their reel or their profile. You can screenshot all of those freely and the account owner is told nothing at all.
The exception is disappearing media in direct messages. When somebody sends a photo or video set to view once or allow replay, Instagram tells the sender if you screenshot or screen record it. That is the only screenshot notification in the app.
This is the single most persistent Instagram myth, and it circulates because the rule genuinely changed years ago during a test. The current position is straightforward: stories no, direct messages that disappear yes.
For a campaign week
Ten thousand views is for a run of stories carrying something important. Delivery starts within minutes of payment clearing.
What each view number actually tells you
Views count events and reach counts people, which is why views are always the larger number. One person watching your reel four times produces four views and one unit of reach, so a big gap between the two means people are rewatching rather than that more people found you.
The follower and non-follower split on a post is the most useful line in insights and the one people ignore. A post seen almost entirely by followers did not travel. A post with a large non-follower share was pushed into feeds and explore, and that is what growth actually looks like in the numbers.
Story views tell you something the others cannot: how much of your audience is still alive. Stories sit at the top of the app for people who follow you rather than being filtered heavily, so a story view count that is a small fraction of your follower count means most of that follower number is dormant.
How to switch on the numbers if you cannot see them
Full insights need a professional account, which means either the creator or the business type. Switch in Settings under account type and tools. Both are free, neither changes how your existing posts look, and you can switch back at any time.
Insights start recording from the moment you switch, not before. A newly switched account will show nothing for older posts, which is not a fault but simply the absence of data for a period when nothing was being recorded.
Story viewer lists work on personal accounts too. Naming your story viewers is not an insights feature, so you get that list regardless of account type, as long as you look inside the roughly 48-hour window.
What happens to your numbers when you buy story views
Bought story views appear in your viewer list exactly like any other view, because they are delivered by accounts watching the story. That means your viewer list becomes a mix once you have ordered, and it stops being a clean record of who genuinely watched. That is worth knowing before you buy rather than after.
Story views are ordered against the profile rather than a single post, because a story expires after 24 hours. An @username or a story link both work, and the minimum order is 250 story views. A feed post link cannot be used for a story views order, since there is no story attached to it.
Buying story views raises the count on the stories currently live. It does not add followers, it does not make Instagram show your stories to more people, and no supplier can control that. What it changes is how a story looks to somebody who opens it and sees that others already watched.
Who we are, and the limits worth stating
InstaBoost is a UK service selling Instagram story views, reel views, followers, likes, saves, shares and reposts, priced in pounds and paid through PayPal. There is no account to create, and no password, login code or app permission is ever requested.
Delivery starts within minutes of payment clearing and orders complete within 0 to 24 hours. Every order carries a 30-day refill, so a shortfall inside that window is topped back up. Some drop is possible on any bought engagement, because Instagram removes accounts it judges inauthentic in periodic sweeps.
The account must be public for delivery to reach it, and it has to stay public for the whole time an order is running, because a private profile hides your stories from anybody who does not already follow you. We do not sell free story views, free trials or free followers, and nothing on this site gives any away.
Questions people ask before ordering
How do I know who viewed my Instagram story?
Open your own story and swipe up from the bottom of the screen, or tap the viewer count in the bottom left corner. Instagram shows the named list of every account that watched, with the total at the top. The named list is available for roughly 48 hours from posting, after which only totals remain.
Can I know who viewed my Instagram profile?
No. Instagram publishes no profile visitor list to anybody, on any account type, and no app or website can supply one because the data is not made available. Anything advertising that feature is guessing or trying to collect your login details.
Does Instagram tell someone if you screenshot their story?
No. Instagram sends no notification when you screenshot a story, a feed post, a reel or a profile. The only screenshot notification in the app is for disappearing photos and videos sent in a direct message, where the sender is told if you capture or record them.
How do I know if one particular person watched my story?
Open the story, swipe up to the viewer list, and search their username in the field at the top. If the account appears, they watched it. They will not appear if they have blocked you, or if you posted the story to Close Friends or hid it from them.
Why can I not see insights on my Instagram posts?
Full insights are limited to professional accounts, meaning the creator or business type, and switching in Settings is free. Insights only record from the moment you switch, so older posts will show nothing. Story viewer lists work on personal accounts too, since naming story viewers is not an insights feature.
Do bought story views show up in my viewer list?
Yes. Story views are delivered by accounts watching the story, so they appear in the viewer list alongside genuine viewers and the list becomes a mix. If your reason for reading the viewer list is to see who really watched, that is a real trade-off to weigh before ordering.
What is the minimum story views order and what link do I use?
250 story views, ordered against the profile using an @username or a story link rather than a post link, because a story expires after 24 hours. Reel views also start at 250, followers, likes, saves and shares start at 100, and reposts start at 50.
