A view is counted once per account, not once per watch. If the same person opens your story six times, the counter still moves by one and their name appears once. That is why a story can feel widely watched and still show a modest number.

This matters when you compare stories against each other, because the view count on the first frame is always the most flattering one. The frame that tells you something useful is the last one, since the drop between first and last is the only honest measure of whether people stayed.
